Diabetes UK
This is a charity for people with diabetes. Its aim is to work towards a world without diabetes and to help people who have diabetes. It raises over £20 million a year and spends it on research, on running a care line, providing documents about diabetes for healthcare professionals and members, and on supporting voluntary groups. There are over 400 of these groups around the country. It also actively campaigns for improvements in medical services for people with diabetes.
Membership costs £20 Per year (£19 by direct debit) or £9 per year for those dependant on the state pension (£8 for direct debit). For this you receive their balance magazine every two months and have access to other documents.

Farlington Diabetes Group
The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month, 2.00pm to 4.00pm in the Drayton institute. They have interesting speakers and provide an opportunity for people with diabetes to meet and share experiences.

Portchester Diabetes Support group
The group meets on the first Monday of each month, 10.00 am to 12 noon in the hall at the Methodist church in Castle Street, Portchester. We share experiences over a cup of tea and look at the latest literature from Diabetes UK.
